Shuswap & Okanagan Photography

Phil Cates

P.Tography is photography by Phil.  I am a Okanagan/Shuswap wedding/family photographer located in beautiful Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada. I happily serve all of the interior of British Columbia with ambition, class, and care. My studio is everywhere and my heart, (and portfolio), reflect my love and passion for the world that surrounds me and my fellow brothers and sisters that I share it with. I’m not only a Shuswap Wedding/Family Photographer; I am a destination wedding photographer as well. My goal is to approach each wedding/family from a unique perspective and share my gifts with those that need them. Be it in beautiful BC, Salmon arm, or beyond, my cameras are an extension of my heart and soul.

As long as I can remember, I've always loved photography.  I got it from my dad.  Who got his from his dad. I'm certain that at least one of my children will likely come to enjoy the same passion.  When I shot my first wedding back in 2004 on a point-and-shoot Sony Cybershot camera, I had no idea it would set the tone for what was to come.  I do what I love and I love what I do.  How could anything be more fulfilling?

Lots of photographers are great with a camera and share a similar approach to the way they present, and capture a photo. I'm not like most photographers. I'm different. I'm a goof. I love people and conversation. I'm fascinated with the world around me and the people who live in it - those that bring all sorts of unique talents and skills to the table. I love change, adventure, and trying new things.  When you add all of that to just 'taking pictures', the result is something truly unique and an experience you won't soon forget.

My Pledge To You

I want to offer you a fresh new alternative to the same old photography experience.  P.Tography is a modern photography option for modern people.  In business. In presentation. In style.

It's my hope I can share that experience with you.

My Inspiration

I am inspired not so much by particular photographers but rather, life itself, (as cliche as that may sound).  There is something so special about being able to capture things in a way that draws the awe or admiration from so many people.  When that happens, it's not so much about impressing people as it is striking a chord with the very essence that makes us all human - Emotion.
